Certified Death

Many years ago I bought this locally released cassette tape entitled CERTIFIED DEATH, a compilation of old school death metal bands. It was one of my most played cassette tapes when I was in college and surprisingly, after more than 12 years, it still manages to play perfectly to this day. A couple of weeks ago I thought of recreating the compilation and making a “remastered” version. Over the past years I have already acquired most of the tracks when I bought the albums of each. Not until last week when I completed the set with the help of some on-line friends who contributed the 2 tracks I’m missing. So now I’m gonna share this compilation, it’s not much but to me it’s quite an unbelievable adrenalin when I play it. Here’s the tracklist:

1 – Benediction – Experimental Stage
2 – Disharmonic Orchestra – Mind Seduction
3 – Afflicted – Consumed in Flames
4 – Incantation – Immortal Cessation
5 – Hypocrisy – Left to Rot
6 – Sinister – Corridors to the Abyss
7 – Profanatica – Spilling Holy Blood
8 – Masacre – Decadencia
9 – Napalm Death – Upward an Uninterested
10 – Cadaver – Mr Tumor’s Misery
11 – Disastrous Murmur – Extra Uterine Pregnancy II
12 – Edge of Sanity – Incipience to the Butchery

Hi Romer! Thanks for dropping by. What copy are you referring to? If a copy of the cassette tape, then I’m afraid you’ll have a hard time tracking one because this release is long gone by now, out of print. With regard to finding a CD, I don’t think they ever released this on CD and I think they only released this locally, so no go too on finding this off-shore. On the simple inlay that it has, it says that it was compiled by a certain Noel Lazo, if memory serves. So I guess downloading a copy here is the best bet you got. I do hope this answers your query and if you have more, just buzz me, ok? Thanks!

I love that compilation too. I bought my cassette tape of Love Songs From The Graveyard in SM Sta. Mesa, the same time I bought Manowar’s Louder Than Hell cd.

Certified Death was my very first death metal cassette tape, alongside Grave’s Into The Grave. I bought those cassette tapes back in 1992. Those were the days when metal was not the coolest music in the world. People despised metal back then, but we loved it!

Certified Death is my most prized cassette tape back in college. I was immediately labeled as a satanist when I played this tape in the boarding house, where everyone (including me) was into metallica, nirvana, scorpion and nu107. It was like my baptism into death, grindcore and black metal. I was able to collect only 4 full length album that was featured in the compilation back then. But in today’s digital world I completed it all. The majority of the artist that was featured in the compilation was from Earache records. And by the way… the cover was entirely in black with the name Certified Death in blackletter typeface colored in red. I was able to purchased the cd in shaw tiangge below the lrt station.

  16. Yes, this is indeed the compilation that I’ve been trying to complete in the digital realm. I’ve tried downloading through torrenst but several of the songs were dead torrents. A friend tipped me on how I should go about in completeing the album (thanks to him) and it was a success. Use google chrome browser and use the search bar. Type name of artist, space, Album title, space and rar. You’ll be directed to mediafire then just click on the download button and you’ll be able to download the album in 15 minutes maximum.

  19. this compilation reminds us of the time when death metal is still pure. although the production is not the same as of todays bands the musik is pure….

  20. back in the days i only have a recorded copy of this compilation which i copied from a fellow maniac. i remember rocking to it through my walkman during school breaks. i was able to hunt down a cd of it in a local metalshop here in cebu. i remember the days when finding metal materials is a pain in the ass. for those who were having a hard time finding the other tracks, try downloading in youtube. although the quality may not as good as the original. just trying to help my fellow maniacs….
